The Manufacturing Process
The process begins with the stringent of the finest knot free rose & teak wood trees. The selected trunks are stored in the open to air dry for 6-12 months, for the wood to stabilize.
It next goes through a process of kiln drying with hot boiling steam for more than 20 days in the kiln dried chambers bringing the moister content down to about 6-7 %. The planks are then again store for another 15-20 days for them to be seasoned. The exact required moisture content is critical as it preserves the wood from contraction and cracking in all types of climatic condition.
Next under the expert skills of the craftsmen the wood is hand crafted into works of art with minimal use of light machinery
The furniture is now ready for the centuries old lacquering process using a natural lacquer, collected form the lacquer Tree, The furniture is then left to dry for at least 8 hours. This is followed by hand polishing with an extra fine flour paper. This entire process is repeated 3 times. Colours of customer's choice mainly natural, medium or dark colour, using an aniline dye are applied on the rose & teak wood ,
Next the intensive polishing process beings with successive applications of natural lacquer that takes 7-8 hours for drying, until the resulting glass is determined to be of the necessary thickness and attains the high standard required. Normally for this standard to be attained. 6 coatings and an incredible total of 10 applications of lacquer must be applied. The entire process is done in air tight rooms that permits the lacquer to penetrate deep into the wood and create a bright crystal clear surface which exhibits the wood grain.
